Building Connections, Leading with Purpose, and Redefining Success

Forging Paths in Business, Leadership, and Connection

Matthew Fuerst, 20, is on his journey at the University of Miami, majoring in Accounting, with a minor in Real Estate and Business Analytics. Coming from a family where talking business was as normal as passing the salt, it’s no surprise he found himself starting to walk a similar path. This summer, he’s gearing up for something big—an internship at SEC. It’s his first shot at carving out his future path. But Matthew’s thinking bigger than just numbers and spreadsheets; he and two of his fraternity brothers are kicking off a charity business venture. It’s their way of mixing smart business with serious giving back, aiming to prove that you can do well by doing good.

Matthew’s commitment to giving back has already taken him across the globe. Recently, he traveled to Nepal to present a donation to READ, a nonprofit dedicated to building libraries in villages impacted by the earthquake. It was a humbling experience that fueled his passion for blending philanthropy with purpose-driven action.

Life for Matthew isn’t all about hitting the books and climbing the career ladder, though. He’s all about balance, finding time for hobbies that bring him closer to others and teach him a bit about himself too. Take fishing, for example—a hobby he’s had since he was a kid. It’s more than just waiting for a bite; it’s taught him patience and how to enjoy the quiet moments. Then there’s his podcast, “Fuerst Connection.” Inspired by his dad’s memories of his mother, Marsha, it’s Matthew’s way of keeping those important conversations going, exploring the kind of talks that stick with you. It’s become his platform for digging into real stories and building connections that matter.

Looking ahead, with plans to run for Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity president, Matthew’s not just chasing a title. He wants to lead, make a difference, and keep growing, all while sticking to his values of kindness, quick thinking, and making friends wherever he goes. As he looks to the future, Matthew’s all about learning from every experience and leaving a positive mark on the world, staying true to himself and where he comes from.
